Singapore Airlines : Lithium Batteries
Singapore Airlines have confirmed that from today they will no longer be accepting Lithium Batteries (UN3090) on any passenger or freighter aircraft. Lithium batteries (UN3091) which are lithium metal batteries contained in equipment can still be booked but only on their freighter aircraft service.
We expect more airlines to follow Singapore AIrlines lead on this with the spotlight being so heavily focused on issues carrying lithium batteries. A number of reports have been filed recently with the FAA issuing caution over handling lithoum batteries by air. Almost all airlines have or are reviewing their procedures and we expect the list of airlines issuing a ban on lithium batteries to increase over the coming weeks.
